Nijel Amos walks against GBV

It's almost that time of the year again when the streets run red with the fervour of anti Gender Based Violence campaigns and "gents" urge each other to "do better" by "our women".  Gender Based Violence is a ceaseless, Global issue with statistics showing that most women experience it in one form or another and this year has seen a notable spike in violence against women in Southern Africa specifically.

The gruesome injustices done against women are so plentiful we have a new name every week to remember, fight for, or try to find, and while these empty words about "protecting our women" from dudebros are about to start running rampant, action based on the belief behind those words will probably stay where it is.

In an effort to raise awareness and stand against GBV, the United Nations branch in Botswana put together a march this morning and declared Nijel Amos the Chief Walker for this endeavour.

Some notable faces there this morning were Marang Molosiwa and Samantha Mogwe, who also came out to show support and stand against GBV.

Marang's work often centers around finding ways to empower and protect young people and especially young girls, recently having been a part of the #EndGirlHate campaign.

Nijel led those present in taking a pledge to stand against GBV in all it's forms and overall it seemed like a great display of support.
