Gaona Dintwe opened up a few years ago that she was diagnosed with a rare disease called endometriosis. This disease is common to women and has got many disturbances that it causes to a woman’s conception ability.

Gaona Dintwe opened up how she suffered rejection from her in-laws who assumed that she did not want to conceive a child for her now ex-husband and how her ex-husband left her for another woman partly because of her condition.

Besides facing all the storms in her life caused by this disease, she started her awareness live programme on social media which tackles issues to do with endometriosis and how the victims of this disease overcame it.

This week, in creating awareness about the disease, Dintwe had an interview with one of the victims of Endometriosis,  Tlamelo who spoke about how she overcame the disease during her one on one interview with Gaona Dintwe’s program's episode titled -   “Rising Above Endometriosis”.

Tlamelo opened up that she was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2007 after she jumped from one doctor to another and she had her first surgery in 2009 and in 2010 she had another one.

She also said the women diagnosed with the disease live a difficult life as they need to consider options like IVF in order to conceive a child and many of these options are expensive.

“It is not easy for a woman who lives with endometriosis because at times you have to consider other methods like IVF to conceive a child and IVF is expensive,“ she said.

However, besides all the obstacles, Tlamelo conceived a child through the IVF method and she revealed that she did not stop having faith .

“I tried IVF for over 8 years and it was successful, many could ask when I was going to have a baby and I would say I was not yet ready to have a child but it was never that case I was just trying and trying and finally It was successful and now I have a 7-month-old baby,” she explained.

Gaona Dintwe also opened up that she is still hopeful that she will also conceive a baby in the near future.
