Former President Ian Khama joins Twitter

In a strange turn of events, former President Sir Seretse Khama Ian Khama has joined the social network Twitter and is slowly but steadily amassing a following.  Since departing from Office Khama has been on a bit of a personal mission, it seems, to stay in the public eye and we guess rebrand?

During his reign he was pretty adamant about his image being carefully curated and keeping the general public at arm's length - only being seen during campaign season or when on his own personal missions - but it seems he's had a change of heart of sorts and over the last few months has been doing radio interviews with private media houses, which he had pretty tense relations with in the past, and now, he has his own personal Twitter account.

While this is in no way anything new - A (former) Head of State or powerful member of society being on social media - we must say, we didn't expect this of him. Recently Khama did a Q&A at Oxford Uni as well where he discussed Trump, the state of affairs in Botswana and how he feels about hypocrisy, criticism and the "deficit in democracy".
