Shona and Connie Ferguson made an announcement yesterday, on 11 November 2020, that their highly anticipated series, Kings of Joburg will be releasing on Netflix this December.

Whilst the famous family celebrated the fact that the cat was finally out of the bag, trolls came for them again for allegedly recycling actors.

The series tells the dark tales of the city of gold. Crime, fighting, and arrests are all expected to be showcased and will see many familiar faces that have appeared in some of Ferguson Film’s previous productions. Kings of Joburg will star Zolisa Xaluva, Sthembiso Khoza, Abdul Khoza, Tsholo Matshaba Cindy Mahlangu, and the creator himself Shona Ferguson.

Tweeps dragged them for allegedly recycling actors. Paballo Patsa tweeted, “The Fergusons clearly live by this adage; if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Because wow.”, Monna Wa Mosotho said, “I wish The Fergusons can take young and fresh actors. I'm tired of seeing old and same actors. But who am I to say I don't have a snake.”, and, Carl Dumi said, “The Fergusons really took a bunch of people from The Queen and made a movie that looks like The Queen, but with a bigger budget.”

Whilst haters were hard at work dragging them some reckoned that they always get more viewership despite the backlash and even this time around they will.
