The awards will take place on Saturday at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The lineup includes top stars such Sir Trill, DJ Foclist, Pabi Cooper, Mr. Jazzic, Reece Madlisa, and Zuma.

The awards are the first of their kind and they are set to acknowledge artists who have taken the genre to the next level. It is no secret that the Amapiano genre boasts great hits and dances which leave many swinging their hips and dancing along at groove. Winners will receive R10 000, and the Amapiano Song of the Year winner will walk away with a whopping R50 000.

Organizers of the awards explained they formed the award because yanos artists have never been recognized for the hard work they put into their songs.

The organization felt like amapiano was not receiving enough acknowledgment. These young kids work so hard and they despite Amapiano having existed for nearly a decade now, there has been  an awards show that fully embrace their talents We are doing this for the culture and it is our goal as the governing body to see these young artists receive their trophies that due to them"

"What somewhat started as an “underdog’s sound” has now gone on to find itself at the forefront of music culture not only in Mzansi but the rest of the continent – and the world. It, therefore, came as a shock to many when categories in the prominent award ceremonies in the country were not dominated by Amapiano artists - despite the yanos leading in terms of fan base and numbers on social media."

Mpho is currently doing well in her career and we love to see it. She released her album early this year titled Lora which directly translates from Setswana to tears. The singer is currently based in Joburg and has made a name for herself in the Afro-soul music scene and her music can be best described as a fusion of soul, RnB, and African rhythms. She has shared a stage with a lot of South African artists, the likes of Shekinah, HHP, Freshly Ground, Nnunu Ramogotsi, Shanti Lo, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Louis Mhalanga.

The musician is hot property as she was recently featured on Dinaledi which was produced by South Africa's renowned duo the Major League twins Bandile and Banele.

The music video captured the hearts of many people and it has garnered  1.9 million. The DJs said they had a great time working with her . “Working with Mpho Sebina was so amazing, we had a beautiful experience. We met online, we loved her voice, we messaged her about working together. We sent her a beat and she sent us something back and that’s how Dinaledi was born."
