Dinner At Somizi's is fast becoming one of our most-loved television shows. Each episode, which comes out weekly, sees a popular celebrity join Somizi at his house for some delicious dinner. As Somizi prepares the meal, he also teaches the audience how to prepare the same dish while also getting his guest involved.

From the moment they start preparing the meal up until it's chow down, Som G asks his guests juicy questions which reveal important things we didn't know about the guest celeb.

Last week Friday's episode saw comedian Mpho Popps join the Idols SA judge in his home. During their conversation, Mpho revealed that his favourite meal growing up was Spaghetti and mince. But now Lamb stew has become his new favourite meal

Real name, Mpho Modikwane

Why He Chose To Do Comedy
You know sometimes go you through life trying to fight the thing that's actually inside of you. I always knew that I was funny but I never thought of it as a career. I never thought that you can actually make money doing comedy. I didn't even know that stand up existed until my sister took me to watch Trevor Noah in 2009 in Gold Reef. I sat in the audience and I was like: I think I can do this thing.

I studied logistics management in varsity. Only because I wanted something that would make me money. But after I discovered comedy I knew I had found my passion.

Comedy Is His Therapy
"Sometimes we as men find it very hard to open up about the issues that are really troubling us. We struggle to even up to our partners and our closest friends. For me, the stage has allowed me that ability to deal with whatever is bothering me. Ke kgona go thuba pelo mo staging."

Comedians He Can't Stand
"To our surprise, Mpho said that Skhumba looks at him and sees what he could become. He also jokingly said that Skhumba has got the jokes but zero looks."

His Current Relationship
"A good friend of mine, who's an author and radio presenter, once said to me that I need to choose myself first. I can't be sad because things didn't work out. They had nothing to do with me, I just need to learn to put myself first. If I got into something and even if it doesn't work and everyone else around me thinks it's working what matters most is how I'm feeling.  Check out the full interview on Showmax."
