Passionate about his craft, he caught the music bug from his grandfather who christened him after the legendary Zambian guitarist Hanceford Mutamba. At the age of 9 he was already in love with music.

Han C Career

The self-taught singer/songwriter burst onto the local Botswana music scene with his chart topping debut hit, Sedi Laaka (which he co-wrote with his uncle Frampton), which was a defining moment in  showcasing his lyrical and vocal prowess.

Sedi Laaka held the top position on the charts for more than a month. His passion for writing in the local vernacular, using idioms and deep Setswana, talking to life’s everyday experiences has catapulted his career and gained him a fan base who relate to his every word.

His style of writing and artistic ability are what he believes he has acquired from his musical background and growing up with a musical family.

Han C has to be one of the most adored star in Botswana because there isn’t a celebrity he hasn’t rubbed shoulders with or shared the stage with.

His repertoire of celebrity features include (are not limited to) Davido, Black Coffee, Micasa, DJ Fresh, Casper Nyovest, AKA, Nasty C, Ringo, Freshly Ground, Ricky Rick, Dr Malinga and Burna Boy

As he moved up the ladder of his career, Han C was quick to acknowledge that when he was younger, he hoped and prayed to become a musician. But he never quite envisioned that he would be this big and for that he is eternally grateful.

Han C recalled how producer Chrispin made a beat for Sedi Laaka and the song eventually became an instant hit and he had no idea it would be, one of the songs that threw him into stardom. Han C said the support from Botswana so far has been amazing.

He acknowledged that in the music industry they try too hard to impress the audience to attract support, but he says, “I have developed a fan base which even myself I don’t know where it came from, but I am so grateful.”

We love you too, Han C-just keep bringing us those hits. Please!
