Thato "DJ Fresh" has a career that's older than some of our employees. Born in Botswana, Fresh discovered his love for music at the age of 13, where he DJed at Boarding School. He then went on to do his first radio show in 1992 on RB2. His passion for the entertainment industry eventually led to him leaving his law studies to pursue Media studies and Journalism full time in 1994.  It was in 1997 that Fresh would join regional station YFM โ€“ and coin the term Yona Ke Yona.

The DJ, who once told the story of how he knocked on doors and dropped off demos at radio stations for five years before getting his break, explained that the road gets difficult even after you get your eventual break reports Times Live.

"I pretty much stopped and then the YFM opportunity appeared. But I had stopped sending demos because I was like nobody is responding. Nobody is calling. After five years of trying and trying, I stopped because I was like let me focus on school. So that is what I did, and then the light shone," he told listeners on his Metro FM show, where he moved in 2017 from 5FM.

DJ Fresh boasts a diversity of talents that have seen him making major waves in the South African entertainment industry for over 20years. He is a sought-after television personality, popular social media sensation, prolific radio and international club DJ, with apparently a good 32 albums under his belt.

And one of the few celebrities who seem well liked and respected by fellow celebrities.

Today some of the biggest names in music and media took to the Internet Streets to wish Rre Sikwane a Happy Birthday, and some of the snaps they posted are... nothing we could have imagined.  Check out some of the birthday messages below.
