Dato Seiko was born 25 years ago in Tonota, in Central District, Botswana. Her stage name is a Japanese adaptation of her real name- Katlego which means success. Dato Seiko is Japanese for “Give Success.”
Not much is known about her background except that she comes from a musical family and is the younger sister of popular Kwaito musician and entrepreneur- Thabo Ntirang, better known as Mapetla.
Although information about her primary and secondary education is not available, Dato Seiko revealed that she holds a Bachelor of Degree in motion picture and live performance from AFDA and is a qualified filmmaker.

In a past interview with the Gazette, she talked about her musical journey, revealing that she started singing since her consciousness and hasn’t stopped.
“Music has always been a vital part of my life mainly because I come from a musical family. It has always been my way of expressing myself. I was always the child that never talked about emotions, so I used music as a way to communicate how I felt.” She said.
Despite having an older brother who was already in the music industry, Dato Seiko carved her own path and kickstarted her music career independently in 2016.
Although like all upcoming artists Dato Seiko faced a challenge in getting her name known as a serious artist, Dato Seiko has over the years managed to secure a spot for herself in the music industry and earned a good number of fans who enjoy her music.
