The majority of our favorite celebrities either studied acting in college or went straight from high school to a career in show business. Meanwhile, there are a handful few who continued to pursue tertiary education and entered academia with the intention of pursuing a completely different profession before being intrigued into a life of celebrity.

While a degree is not always required to achieve celebrity status, many musicians and actors have specialized training in their particular fields. Not every famous person drops out of school to pursue fame with nothing more than a heart full of ambition; in fact, some of our favorite celebrities are extremely well-educated, and we couldn't be more proud of their academic achievements.

These celebrities prove that you really should never judge a book by its (attractive) cover, as you will be surprised to learn that our favorite celebrities have very surprising qualifications.

Nomzamo Mbatha

Nomzamo is widely regarded as South Africa's sweetheart. The media personality is an actress, a TV presenter, an entrepreneur, an international brand ambassador, and a UNHCR Goodwill ambassador. Nomzamo is the epitome of beauty and brains, as she holds a Business and Commerce degree and is currently pursuing a second degree in accounting.

Thuli Phongolo

Thuli Phongolo is another actress on our list. Despite making headlines for her turbulent on-again, off-again romance with South African DJ and music producer DJ Maphorisa, the actress is one of our well-educated favorites. Thuli graduated from the University of Johannesburg with a degree in Strategic Marketing.

K Naomi

The next person on our list is Keitumetse  Naomi Noinyane, better known as K Naomi. The South African model and TV presenter gained notoriety in 2012 and has since been lighting up our screens and timelines. The media personality has a degree in Brand Building and Management, which is evident in her ability to create such a successful brand for herself in such a short period of time.

Ntando Kunene

The 2017 Miss South Africa is up next on our list. Ntando is the epitome of beauty with brains, with a degree in Education from Wits University and Honours in Curriculum Issues. The former beauty queen and mom-preneur is still making big moves, but she recently opened up about the difficulties of juggling motherhood and a career.

Zama Dube

Last but not least is Zama Dube, a former radio presenter. The media personality holds a Masters degree in African Literature from Wits University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Cinema and Media Studies at The University of California, Los Angeles.

We hope this list has inspired you as much as it has inspired us!
