Alpha Female: A woman who has accepted her leadership potential. She is gifted, highly motivated, and self-assured.

Nothing motivates you more than a celebrity who inspires you to be a better version of yourself. The entertainment industry has a way of diluting one's authenticity, especially with the constant scrutiny that comes with being in the public eye. Alpha females are confident in their abilities to lead and encourage others. One of their traits is that they believe their abilities to achieve anything and everything are limitless. They exude confidence, which leads to others viewing them as equals regardless of industry or job. Alpha females are also extremely ambitious, and their actions and leadership qualities are often regarded as significant.

The term ‘alpha female’ is thrown around casually, but there are few ladies in South Africa who are the embodiment of the term. Here is a list of a few of our favs.

Connie Ferguson

Connie (Constance) Ferguson is a Botswana-born entertainer living in South Africa. The actress, filmmaker, producer, and entrepreneur is best known for her role in the popular soap opera Generations as "Karabo Moroka." Connie and her deceased husband, Shona Ferguson, were huge couple goals because of how they worked and hustled together, absolutely adored and parented together. After losing her husband, Connie put on a brave face and continued to run the multiple businesses they had founded. She frequently posts about her pain on social media while somehow remaining a pillar of fortitude for her daughters, fans, and followers.

DJ Zinhle

Dj Zinhle personifies the term "boss babe," having accomplished everything from chart-topping hits to countless enterprises. Zinhle, a mother of two, was recently voted Africa's number one female DJ, and no one can deny the bangers she consistently drops. She also recently named CEO of Boulevard Rosé, a sparkling wine brand, after choosing to buy a significant stake in it. DJ Zinhle has a long history of running booming businesses, including chain stores across the country.

Bonang Matheba

Bonang, widely recognized as Queen B, seems to be well not only in South Africa, but also throughout the continent and around the world. The media personality has dominated South African airwaves, from being a TV and radio presenter to hosting her own reality show. She has also hosted several international events and, in 2019, she launched her own luxury beverage brand, House of BNG.

Mkhize, Shauwn

Then there's Shauwn Mkhize. This businesswoman has ensured her family's well-being for future generations. In addition to her numerous entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors, Shauwn owns and runs one of South Africa's largest football teams. She is also a well-known South African socialite with her own reality show.
