Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, popularly known as Makhadzi yesterday announced that she will be launching her album “for the last time” on Sunday 17th October. The 2017 LMAC award winner took to her Twitter and Facebook profiles to share her latest project with a colourful and rousing poster.

The announcement was met with a lot of excitement from her fans. However, what seems to have drawn the most fan attention was who else was in the poster: Master KG is going to be featured. If you will remember, the two used to be one of the country’s top power couples. They were known to set standards on the internet, bagging award nominations left and right. The couple did not last as long as the fandom had hoped it would, as shortly following the confirmation, Master KG famously shared in a now-deleted Facebook post that they had mutually decided to split up to focus on their individual careers.

Although all of this happened more than a year ago, fans do not seem to be letting go any time soon. The poster featuring Master KG seems to have reminded everyone of their former flame status, and they were quick to point it out. The collaborative project that many fans deem as both suspicious and exciting has elicited mixed reactions by the fans.
Most fans are speculating, some earnestly hoping, that the project means that the couple is back together. One Facebook fan left a not-so-subtle hint in a comment “Every good bye makes the next hello closer”, while another came in predicting that the Jerusalema star was planning to propose at the event.

It is clear that the couple’s former relationship has a lot of supporters, even though it has been a long time since they broke up and Makhadzi even went on to have another high profile relationship with Zwivhuya Nelwamondo.

Still, some fans expressed disappointment at the idea of the couple reuniting. Many have suggested that the songstress had been referring to Master KG when she sang that somebody was calling her name in her 2020 hit song Ex Yanga. The reactions are to be expected seeing as the two had a good run while they were together, with Makhadzi once referring to the AFRIMA award winner as her “virginity breaker”.

In addition to the excitement sparked by event poster, the singer’s caption seems to have confused her fans too. “It will be on a Sunday 17 October when we launch my album for the last time…” Many fans are wondering what she meant by “for the last time”. Does it mean she is not going to be working with Master KG again? Your guess is as good as ours. Either way, the Ghanama singer has in the past made it clear that regardless of their personal lives, it was always a pleasure working together.

Relationship-drama aside, news of the album was well-received overall. Makhadzi was shown international love in her comments. Fans from Mozambique and Malawi showed their support and invited her to perform across the borders, promising her large crowds and huge success. Locally too, the artist seems to have built a loyal fan base for her music, and it is not hard to see why, considering her illustrious career including working with big acts like Cassper Nyovest. We are excited for the new album.
