It was just another cold day in Africa, until American talk show host Ellen Degeneres decided to give her opinion on the official statement issued by H.E President Masisi lifting the ban on elephant hunting in Botswana. Apparently this decision which was welcomed by most Bastwana is a wrong one and something must be done.

Her tweet got a lot of traction with conservationists demanding that the international community step in and reserve Hon. Masisi's decision.

But Botswana wasn't having it considering that there were 1,300 incidences  involving elephants and people died between 2006-17 alone. This resulted in crop raiding, property damage, and threats to human lives.

Tweeps and Tswalebs alike took the opportunity to school Ellen on why such a law is necessary in Botswana, because after all it is a matter of life and death for this country's citizens.

Taking into account that Botswana has the world's largest population of elephants encroaching on the land, many tweeps feel like it's either them or the elephants. Some even told Ellen to come and collect as many as she can and put them in her backyard, if she feels so strongly about the conservation of elephants.

Media guru Tshepo Ntshole told her to get her facts right before she can form an opinion.

South African designer Thula Sindi also chimed in and told Ellen and her crew to 'sit down'.
